Clash of Social Media Generations

A comprehensive European research study has found that teenagers in Europe are flocking away from Facebook. Why? Their parents. The social media platform has transformed from one of youth and rebellion to one where connected parents urge their children to visit the network and “post about their lives.” In fact, the Global Social Media Impact Study found, after researching the Facebook usage of 16-18 year olds in eight EU countries, that the key time a teenager will migrate away from his or her Facebook profile is when they receive a friend invite from their mother. Off to Twitter, Instagram, WhatsApp and Snapchat. My guess is that the mention of MySpace would be met with blank stares by teenagers today. Can it have been that long? Digital time like all time is short. Here is the full study: gsmis.org
